hi all!
from now… most of my blog posts will be back on the a-ngoi-ing blog. for those unfamiliar with this, it’s our family blog. more specifically, our cousins blog.
and it’s awesome.

adjusting.
i kinda didn’t want to come back.
but i must say, it’s been nice meeting up with friends - considering that i was pretty lonely the last leg of my journey!
not too sure what i’m gonna do about this blog. will definitely try to summarise my thoughts on the exchange!

30th Dec. Arrive from Boston by Bolt Bus (highly recommended - book in advance to get $10 tix!). Met my “foster family”, who took me to an awesome night with the New York Philharmonic in the Lincoln Center. I think i am pretty familiar with nutcracker tunes now.
31st Dec. Big day. Join Food on Foot Tours at East Village. Nice, cheap, cosy little eateries and take outs. No chain restaurants here! Great stuff. Met half of Singapore - wil and friend, and an ex-classmate’s girlfriend’s gang. Went to Times Square to see how the atmosphere was. The cops are nice. Stopped by the Port Authority Bus Terminal, where the information counter lady wasn’t so nice. Went back, walked in Riverside Park. Home-cooked meal and another visit to Times Square, albeit a short one. The line stretched from 42nd to 58th street. Go figure. Central Park for fireworks and to watch the midnight run. Happy 2011!
1st Dec. Woke up early. Decided sleep was important. Woke up later. Met ray and co. for awesome brunch at Cafe Orlins. We saw a certain famous person but were unfortunately too ashamed by everyone staring at us that we have no photographic evidence. Heroes of the World Trade Center tour (eh… didn’t like this one as much), then off to Broadway. Tried the Wicked lottery, made a new friend, didn’t win, bought standing tickets for Phantom of the Opera instead. Almost died when i lost my ticket; thankfully i paid with debit so they were able to re-print. Awesome - masquerade is still ringing in my head.

photos are in post-processing (it sounds better than procrastination doesn’t it!)
DAY 1:
Arrive, get 7-day metrocard ($15, at $2 per ride; do the math). Reach Hostelling International near Hynes. Eat at Bangkok City Restaurant. Go Wally’s Cafe for a drink and some blues.
DAY 2:
Get up bright and early at 11am (LOL). Lunch at Ye Old Union Oyster (oysters so-so, chowder is GUD. about $15-25). Freedom Trail (passing by Union Oyster dangit; could have eaten at Neptune Oyster but felt the cash strain with $20-30 meals!). Bought some pastry at Mike’s Pastry, stopped for soup somewhere. The snow, cold and puddles made it kinda troublesome. Tantric restaurant with friends (who were, unfortunately for them, unable to go to NY. fortunately for me though…), then Blue Man Group.
DAY 3:
Totally did not make full-use of free breakfast. Lunch at Legal Seafoods in the Prudential Centre. People say it’s overrated, I don’t know. Cause it was some really good seafood! Expect $15-25 (more with oysters; slightly more expensive than Union). Harvard University, wanted to go MIT too but got derailed by awesome 50% off sales items at Urban Outfitters. Heck, i should just bold UO, each shop is an attraction in itself. Free nights at the Museum of Fine Arts (VERY GOOD). Overpriced but delicious chinese-sy dinner at Myers+Chang in Chinatown (albeit ulu; expect to spend $15-25).
Was thinking of visiting some music stores and the berklee store, but.. oops woke up too late.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Definitely the food. Seafood tastes so much better when you’ve been eating chicken the past 5 months. Chowder + Oysters om nom nom.
what’s been happening?
